Keys Mooring Field Reopens After Storm Repairs

Recreational boaters in the Florida Keys celebrated the recent restoration of a popular mooring field damaged during last year’s storm season.

The project replaced 43 buoys and upgraded ground tackle throughout the anchorage. Park officials completed the work two months ahead of schedule.

Local sailors welcomed the news. “This spot has been our go-to anchorage for years,” said weekend cruiser Maria Gonzalez. “Having it back feels like coming home.”

The restored moorings feature improved holding capacity and new reflective markers for night visibility. Fees remain unchanged from previous seasons.

Reservations opened last week and booking has been steady. Interested boaters can check availability through the park’s online system.
